Shopping

Shopping forms a major part of most people’s lives. It is through shopping that people get different commodities and products that they require for their daily use and other activities. In the past, shopping was an ordinary experience as people had no or limited option on what to get and where to find it. However, this has changed as the mode of shopping has changed. Convenience and flexibility are two main things that people look for in any shopping experience. Therefore, convenience and flexibility determine the quality of shopping experience.

The use of internet technology and e-commerce in the scope of business changed the mode of shopping. With just a click of the mouse, one is able to get different products and commodities from various in different parts of the world. Individuals can shop at the comfort of their homes, in their offices, waiting in queue, or on the move. This is because all they require is an internet connection and an internet-enabled device such as a computer or a mobile phone. After shopping, delivery can take place on any day and at any time of the day, directly to an individual’s doorstep. Shopping s made even better by the presence on online shop and market places, which gives the shoppers access to variety of products and commodities from various sellers all over the world.

Despite of the mode of shopping, there are various factors that constitutes a good shopping experience. Time is the first and the most crucial element of a good shopping experience. This is because most people’s lives are governed by time and it has become a precious and scare resource. Wasted time resulting from long and unnecessary queues in shopping malls and for deliveries is a major distracter to a good shopping experience. Therefore, a good shopping experience should ensure that minimal time is wasted in the shopping process and during delivery.

Variety is a major driving factor of a good shopping experience. People have different tastes and preferences and the world is a diverse place with great differences. There are various brands for different products ranging from electronics, groceries, fashion and clothing, and even cars. When individuals are able to get a variety of products in one place, then it becomes a good shopping experience. Moreover, the ability to compare and do a thorough investigate before purchasing anything, which includes finding information like usability, functionality and quality of goods, comparing price and the brand of the goods if provides an even better shopping experience.

The other factor is the accessibility of goods. A good shopping experience is determined by the ease of a person getting access to the goods that he/she is shopping. Accessibility in shopping encompasses three things; locality, time of access and means of transport or delivery. First, the locality of a shopping force is determined by the availability of goods that an individual wants to shop near one’s locality. Second, the time of access is determined by the time that an individual visits the shop to get the commodities and the time that the retailer is available. The third and the most important is the means of transport of delivery. Goods need to be shifted from the shopping premises to the buyer. Therefore, good shopping experience is where delivery is done free of charge and the goods are delivered in the right condition. In case the goods are not in the right condition, there should be a return policy.

In addition, the price of the goods a person buy plays a major role in determining the shopping experience of an individual. In most cases, people want to try where they can, get cheaper goods. A buyer is always motivated to buy from a shop offering goods at a cheaper price. Giving the buyer option of choosing goods that are within his/her budget or in other words there is a variety of price ranges (the same like in term of product) is even better. Lastly, the packaging of the goods also plays a major role in determining the shopping experience. The goods need to be packaged in nice and suitable packages. When one is buying breakable commodities like home electronic or antiques, packaging also should involve the protection of goods during delivery. In case the goods size vary, larger outlets should offer trolleys or baskets for buyers’ convenience, while foodstuff sellers in hot or cold climate should consider the temperature and have a cooling storage or covers to protect the food.

Sports & Leisure

The 21st century has experienced a growth in both global and domestic markets. This has been fueled by the changes in market dynamics ad growth of information technology. Information technology has made the world a small village as people all over the world can be able to communicate and transact business online. Further information technology has resulted in the development of better transport and communication infrastructure, which has resulted in the increase of mobility of goods, ideas, capital, and resources. Due to globalization, domestic markets have opened up to global markets. This has led to the growth of entrepreneurship and development of startups, especially in developing countries.
Startup refers to a company that has been developed to offer a unique product or service that meets demand of a market gap. These companies are essential in the growth and development of emerging economies as they offer solutions to some of the challenges facing the economies. However, due to the complex nature of markets, startups are faced by myriads of challenges that stagnate their growth or even lead to their downfall. While some of the challenges can be mitigated, others are unique to a specific startup. Nevertheless, entrepreneurs need to fully understand these challenges and have a viable strategy on how to overcome them. The objective of this essay is to discuss some of the major challenges that face startups as they venture in the big market.

Funding is one of the main challenges that faces a new business. A business idea does not culminate to a business without an input of initial capital. There is cost that is incurred in setting up a business for it to see the first day of operation, the initial investment cost. Moreover, to fund the working capital gap of the business before it starts generates enough cash to sustain its operations. However, most of the time, entrepreneurs do not have the funds to start up the business as their savings is not enough. Most financial institutions do not lend to startups which have a high risk of failure. With the establishment of venture capitalists, startups can look for capital to start up the business by offering a share of the business in return.

In addition, startups also face the problem of lack of managerial skills. Most new entrepreneurs start their businesses in areas in which they are familiar with and have a good understanding of the market gap. However, most of these individuals do not have managerial skills. A business idea whether good or bad, may fail if it is headed by an individual who lacks managerial skills. An entrepreneur who wants his venture to survive needs to have a good understanding of various business concepts and the dynamics of the market and needs to be able to find suitable solution to common business challenges. Entrepreneur can take up business courses so as to understand major business concepts and the best management skills that can be used to run the business. Moreover, he/she can also hire a manager who has the necessary experience and skills to run the business. Also, with the establishment of small business incubators, startups can gain managerial and technical skills that will help in running the business. In case the business is owned by individuals from the same family, their elders might help them with their experience in running a business.

The other major challenge that faces startups is marketing the business and the product. As previously stated, most of the startups are headed by entrepreneurs who do not have prior knowledge or experience in entrepreneurship. Most of these individuals have technical knowledge in the product or service that the business is offering. Besides, the product might not be known to the market, its brand value is therefore low. However, to establish a solid foundation, customers need to know the product, its usage, benefits and even the brand value. The startup need to use aggressive and persuasive marketing strategies so as to create awareness of the product and the company as a whole. When customers are aware of the availability of the product in the market, they are likely to try it. If it is good, then, they will always purchase it. With the improvement in technology and increase in the number of individuals using the internet, most businesses are turning to internet marketing (. Internet marketing is effective as it has global reach. However, digital campaigns require experience and upfront budget, so it is not exactly suitable for startups. Thus, in most cases, traditional forms of marketing are better for startups. Also, there is the press, which is always searching for interesting things and ideas, connected with the business, because It can increase te visibility of the brand, build it trust among customers, and expand its reach. Furthermore, press-releases do not require any expenses.

In conclusion, 21st century is characterized by growth in technology and improvement in standard of living. The growth in technology has led to the development of better appliances that have made peopleslives to be more comfortable. This is because all they require is an internet connection and an internet-enabled device such as a computer or a mobile phone. Moreover, when shopping online, numerous risks, starting from the inadequacy of information about the product, its size or quality, can still encounter a buyer. And absence of the human factor in this process may prevent buyer from making a fast and correct decision, affecting the quality of his/her shopping experience. Therefore, after analysing everything, I can conclude that a good shopping experience does not depend on the technology used, like online shops, but on the relation developed between the actual shops and the shoppers who keeps coming back for the real-life communication with the company’s representatives, like shop assistants and managers. Furthermore, modern developments have made it easier to access markets, which has resulted in the growth of startups. However, despite their crucial roles, they face myriads of challenges that threaten their survival. Small business incubators are important in promoting entrepreneurship.
